I think a likely step is that we will have developed mechanical supplements to our intelligence that will rival robots. Pen and paper allowed us to overcome our working memory's limit of 3-4 ideas at one time; otherwise, we will forget. The computer has increased that to many times that number. However, there will be a time in which our memory's limit will be increased more seamlessly, in my opinion.

Increased intelligence will not lead to as much gain as scientists predict. Intelligence is an overrated trait. Not because there are other traits that better lead to success such as work ethic (or grit, a term used by angela ducksworth) but because intelligence can only get you so far. Trial and error is a huge impediment to increased knowledge. Intelligence will not tell us what's behind two doors, one red and the other green. We need to open one and see what's behind it.

Additionally, robots does not inherently have a desire to control and dominate so why would they? On the other hand, human's desire for greed is hard-wired into our genes and it will be impossible to separate humans and greed. Literally impossible.

Elon Musk and Stephen Hawking's fear is perhaps overblown in my opinion although I can't be sure because I really don't know the full reasons for their opinion.

Btw, has your views on libertarianism changed since you posted your support for it many years ago. I don't support it but I was wondering if your views have changed during the intervening years.BroadThinkerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06211745984583179285noreply@blogger.com
